Lamborghini Murcielago

Murcielago 2001
On the 5th of November 2010 another car simply became history, namely the Lamborghini Murcielago. This successor of the Diablo was first introduced in 2001. Until May 2010 a total of 4,099 cars were produce. Now after you remember those numbers in order to have bragging rights in car conversations, let me tell you why actually I write about the Murcielago…

The reason I want to pay a tribute to this car is not because I banged a lot of girls on the back seats (just because it doesn’t have them), or because it was the first car which I drove with more than 300 km/h (it might be hard to believe but I did not even own one). My inspiration comes from the countless times this car was brought up in car conversations or actually started them in the first place. Every time someone saw a Murcielago it was brought up, as if one were to see Heidi Klum naked on the street, although I don’t know anyone who actually saw her, but my guess would be that their reaction would have been similar.

The Murcielago is one of those cars for which people would do everything to own. I wonder why no one actually opened a store where the price of the car would be in body parts, let’s say it would cost an arm, a liver and a kidney.  It is actually impossible not to want it: looks bad-ass, it is sexy, powerful and the sound of the engine makes you have some kind of mental orgasm. Putting it that way we can describe it as a dominatrix on wheels.

Even Bruce Wayne was driving one in the last Batman which just supports my point how amazing the car was, actually not really but I wanted to mention it cause the last Bataman movie kicked-ass. Why do you think Superman does not drive one of those, and NO the answer is not because he can fly, but because Superman is gay, which again supports my point of view on how remarkable the car really is.

Now let me tell you few things about the car, some of which you might already know, if you do know them you just gained my respect (no…just kidding, respect no one).

·        The first Murcielago (2001-2005) was with 6.2L V12 engine which was doing 0-100 in the modest 3.5 seconds. Later the LP-670 SuperVeloce was doing the first 100 in 2.8. As this data is taken from the manufacturer I don’t think it should be trusted.

·        Lamborgini Reventon, that’s the car that everyone has been talking about since 2007, so if you don’t know it please pay more attention next time. Its based on the Murcielago.. That means all mechanical parts plus the engine are directly taken from the LP-640.

·        The easiest way to differentiate a Galardo from Murcielago, which is not that easy to do, is to take a look at the air intakes on the sides. The Galardo has big long ones, while the Murcielago has small and low intakes.

·        The car’s price starts from EUR 250,000, but for example the Versace edition is EUR 430,000

This car will always be a nice memory from the beginning of the 2000s, but I do not regret that they stopped its production. Just take a look at the history of the whole line: Diablo, Countach, Miura and now the Murcielago. I think we can trust the guys from Lamborgini that in 2012, when supposably the next  fighting bull “Jota” will appear, we will not be disappointed.
